Through a nomination by Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation the Tipperary International Peace Award 2005 went to the late Rafic Hariri Former Prime Minister of Lebanon who joins a trial of World personalities like Nelson Mandela,Mikhael Gorbachov,Senator George Mitchell ,and President Bill Clinton.The Taef Accord that brought Peace to Lebanon after 17 years of civil war was the gigantic reward of his work who relentlessly lobbied behind the scene to make this agreement possible.
The Award presentation day was followed a planting of a Cedar of Lebanon .A Forum about Peace and Irish UN Role in Peacekeeping and a parade the next day.
April 2008 the award was dedicated to Mrs Benazir Bhutto.The ILCF attended the moving award ceremony supporting the Tipperary Peace Committee in their formidable work in recognising World’s Peace achievers.
